Assignment 3

Erod's Car (movie)

Process

  1. I used the match move node to track a tennis ball that was above the car
  2. I played around with the color of the image inorder to seperate the tennis ball from the rest of the image
  3. I track forward and backwards and averaged the two to get the final track

Problems There were poblems tracking the tennis ball because it was so small and the background was pretty complex, but after playing with the Reorder and ContrastLum nodes I was able to seperate it enough to track

Juggling Fire (movie)

Process

  1. I tracked the tennis balls each individually
  2. They were pretty easy to track since they were green and everything else was dark

Problems I had to do some tracking by hand since the tennis balls moved so quickly and went off the screen or were ocluded by my hand.

Tutorials (movie)

Problems I started out with a different idea for this one. I was trying to do the match moving in Maya and had it matched pretty good, but I had the settings wrong on the maya camera and that caused the camera animation to be completely off. To view a playblast of the match moving Click Here

Since I was left with little time I changed my idea to this. I still had problems with the tracking because of the extreme movements of my camera. To solve this I track each corner seperatly and left off the optimize so that it would track slower. This way I could watch the tracking and stop it if it started to get off. This was easier then going back and trying to figure out where it started to get off after it was finished tracking.
